I am a retired Senior Commissioner of National Police Agency (NPA) of Japan. I joined the NPA in 1986 and retired in 2021 after 35 challenging and rewarding years of service. During the period, I held a number of senior positions, including Director General of NPA’s Tohoku Regional Police Bureau, NPA’s Director of Second Investigative Division (Fraud/Scams, White-Collar Crime and Public Corruption) and Director of Fourth Investigative Division (Japanese Organized Crimes) of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, where he supervised numerous criminal investigations and international operations. After leaving the NPA, I was invited to Waseda Institute of the Policy of Social Safety, Waseda University as Research Fellow, where he has been doing research, focusing primarily on countermeasures against fraud/scams and transnational organized crimes. I am a graduate of Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo ’86 (LL.B.) and John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University ’92 (Master in Public Administration).

Dr. Junghee Lee received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University in 2000 and 2003, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2013. He has been with the School of Cybersecurity at Korea University since 2019. He founded Anam145 in 2023 to commercialize advanced security technologies developed in his lab at Korea University. From 2003 to 2008, he worked at Samsung Electronics on electronic system-level design for mobile system-on-chips. From 2014 to 2019, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His research interests include hardware-based security techniques, blockchain, and cryptographic accelerators.
