After engaging in new business development in areas such as finance and e-commerce at KDDI, Michihiko spent nine years at the corporate venture capital arm, KDDI Open Innovation Fund. During this time, they drove investments and growth support for startups in Japan, the US, and other regions, while also promoting joint business development with portfolio companies. From 2021 to September 2023, they relocated to Shanghai as the head of establishing the fund’s China base, leading open innovation activities with local startups.

Since October 2023, they have overseen blockchain-related businesses, including wallets and NFT marketplaces.

Following the establishment of "au Coincheck Digital Assets"—a joint venture among KDDI, Coincheck, and au Financial Holdings—they assumed the position of President & CEO.
