Alice French is a Tokyo-based reporter for Bloomberg covering Japanese financial markets. Her work focuses on equities with a particular interest in the technology and entertainment sectors. She also reports on crypto and has tracked the rise of digital asset treasuries in Japan and across Asia.
Beyond her markets coverage, Alice has led reporting on social and gender issues in Japan and is a regular contributor to Bloomberg TV and podcasts.
Before joining Bloomberg in 2024, Alice was a reporter and editor at Nikkei Asia, where she covered major global events including the G7 Hiroshima Summit. She previously worked for the Yamagata Prefectural Government through the JET Programme. Alice is from the UK and holds a BA in Japanese from the University of Cambridge.
